Penang is a beautiful island filled with beautiful people and beautiful places to go, to eat, to see and to chill! From Georgetown to Batu Ferringhi to all those little spots you may have missed. So we have a collection of some places you can go and take your OOTD shots or just an Instagrammable shot for your Instagram feed. Might you have plans to go to Penang this weekend, if you don’t then plan it right now! *wink*
1. GURNEY DRIVE, GEORGETOWN, PENANG
The must-go place and must-eat foods whenever you’re in Penang, Gurney Drive Hawker Food Court! Behold! This place is pretty iconic, everybody’s been here, everybody’s going here and everybody’s here! TBH, isn’t the best place for Penang Hawker food because the prices here can be a killer.
2. SUNGAI BURONG, BALIK PULAU, PENANG
The Sungai Burong river leads you out to the south side of Penang Island. You can park your car along a housing area before you reach the beach, it’s not so far to walk to the destination because parking is limited there. While you’re on your way there, you can also see wide, wide land of paddy fields, visitors are welcomed to stroll around and take pictures. The locals are friendly and the recommended time you should go is of course during sunset. Next on your bucket list!
3. VIVA HAWKER FOOD COURT, TANJUNG TOKONG, PENANG
This place needs to be known and seriously, the food here is great. The oyster egg and laksa here are so underrated. Best budget eats after a long day at the beach. It is on the way up to Batu Ferringhi. Though the parking there is limited, I never had trouble getting a parking.
4. PRAGIN MALL ROOFTOP PARKING, GEORGETOWN, PENANG
Pragin Mall has been there for a very long time, so there’s nothing much too shop there except for cheap gadgets and good yummy TomYam. This mall holds cool events like Bboy battles and whatnot. This rooftop parking though, you get an amazing view of Penang’s most iconic building, KOMTAR.
5. ARMENIAN STREET, GEORGETOWN, PENANG
One of the most iconic places in Penang as well. A tourist attraction that most locals think “Nawh, I don’t need a picture here lah. Tourists stuff.” That’s what I thought at first until I actually brought some foreign friends and they were excited about these murals, they made me take pictures of them and eventually, I wanted a picture there too! LoL. It was worth it.
6. GOLDEN SANDS RESORT, BATU FERRINGHI, PENANG
A pretty hotel with a prettier beach! You can play volleyball, parasailing and a bunch of other water activities. If you are in a big group, doing those water activities would be extremely fun. Protip; always, always haggle with the guys who does the water sport activities. ALWAYS. Parking here is free but quite the walk because the hotel do not allow visitors to park in their compound. But what’s a walk to the beach when the view is great? Below is a shot of the beach.
7. CHINAHOUSE, GEORGETOWN, PENANG
Best place for a good meal, good music from a live band and delicious desserts. Chinahouse is a cafe you MUST go! They have a variety of desserts. Apparently, this place is a very old building and it has an escape tunnel below during the very old times. That explains the design of this long cafe. It isn’t wide, it’s narrow and long.
8. TAN CLAN JETTY, GEORGETOWN, PENANG
Most people don’t know this place, some even think it’s not necessary to enter the clan jetty. There’s so many pretty places there. When you visit this places at the right time and when the tide is high, it’s quite breathtaking. Seriously. I used to hangout a lot here at Tan Jetty and it has got a very chill atmosphere and all that. I recommend sunset times! They’re the best timing, really.
9. ESPLANADE PADANG KOTA LAMA, GEORGETOWN, PENANG
A very vintage looking background that’s perfect for an OOTD shot! Also at Padang Kota Lama A.K.A Esplanade Penang, you can find Penang’s famous Mee Sotong and Coconut Shake! I have tried it and trust me guys, it’s worth the wait especially for the Coconut Shake, it is my FAVORITE! Below is a mouthwatering picture of the Mee Sotong.
10. THE TOP PENANG, KOMTAR, GEORGETOWN, PENANG
This is the new level in KOMTAR. It’s got 9 different attractions in all together and one of it is the rainbow skywalk!
