Budget Cafés for Students in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah

After a long tiring class, the best place we can go to chill is a café. However, since we are still students, we should always consider about the budget. How much is this and that? Does the food or drinks of the café considered as affordable or is it actually expensive? You know, stuff like that.

Here is the list of where students normally go for to chill or yumcha with some friends since the price is consider affordable for them. So what to eat at Kota Kinabalu, below are the lists of them:

1. WOO CAFE

It has impressive interiors and a large bottle of water will be place on the table as soon as we sit down. The menu is quite interesting compare with other café. Their coffee is also exceptional and their desserts ain’t too bad as well. The price range of the coffee is around RM8 – RM15. Besides that, the Matcha tastes really good too! Apparently, they use pure matcha powder to make the matcha latte. No artificial flavorings, colors or additives and whatnot. The food comes in quite a big portion, so normally you can share with your friends. Supersaver!

October Coffee House was one of my favorite places for coffee and chilling. After a rough day, you can sit back, relax and enjoy a cup of wonderful coffee with sweet toast and of course, the beautiful music on the background. It’s really nice! Their hot beverages are around RM7 – RM10 and cold beverages are around RM 11 – RM12. WOW! Actually, it’s quite affordable. Anyway, their baristas have been certified and their coffee beans are fresh because they roasted the bean themselves without buying from the supplier. Best part? This café has got THREE branches. IKR!

Lucky Bean is also one of the best chill places and is affordable for students and just about anyone to chill with friends and family. The foods are more to Taiwanese style. The food that I personally like to order there is Lucky Bean’s Cheesy Eggettes. It is damn nice I’m telling you! The taste of cheese and egg together is fabulous! Gravy Cheese Fries is one of my favorite snack to order too! The price is definitely slightly cheaper and reasonable compared with other franchised desserts outlets.

4. THE BEAN CAFE

Seeking for a very relaxing and comfortable place for gathering, business discussion or maybe even just spending some quality time alone? This is the place to be. I remember the first day I walked in this café, I felt comfortable and it was like home to me. There’s a big sofa at the corner and every time when I have a promised date with a friend, I will choose that exact corner to sit. It’s unlike any other café, this café provides a corner for customers to have their own space. Their drinks are also quite reasonable and affordable for students. There are delish desserts like cakes and the price is around RM8-ish, always choose the cheesecake though. It’s the best seller. I guarantee it’s nice! You should go give it a try.

5. INCH CAFE

This is the place where you look for quality drinks and food. Their coffee is consistently excellent and food is brilliantly innovative. I found out that their review from Facebook is 4.8 over 5, it is quite high compared to other cafés. However, if you’re not a coffee person, you can try the smoothie. The size is medium and the price is RM10++. It is quite affordable because they do use good quality ingredients and it tastes great. You should try the coconut smoothie, it is silky smooth and super refreshing! The desserts, especially their brownie, tastes good and the price is from the range of RM10 and below. The waffles is one of their best sellers, known for its crispy-on-the-outside crunch and fluffy-on-the-inside sensation.
